Stevens 1831
The Stevens of 1831 was built for the Camden & Amboy Railroad by Robert Stephenson using an adaptation of a Samson Class loco and a Bury style boiler. As the locomotive was to burn wood instead of coal, a larger fire grate was needed, hence the addition of the bury style boiler. This engine was altered over the years to suit the needs of the railroad and was later known as the John Bull owing to its very English roots.
